Good friends and tidepools.

Yesterday C's best friend from school came out to the coast to go tide pooling with us.  We just live a few blocks away from one of the best tide pools on the west coast.  When the tide is really low you can walk right out onto the reef and see all different types of ecosystems just a few steps away from each other.   We loved watching all of the drama unfold in each little pool that we came upon.  We were there towards the end of the day so the visibility was not as good as we would have liked, but it was wonderful to see the sun set over the ocean.

This is a baby sea star that was pointed out to us by another visitor.  It was only about the size of a quarter.  I've never seen a tiny little sea star before.  Every time we go out to the tide pools we see something that we have never seen before and the landscape is always different.  Every experience is new because the tides are always changing.

We are so lucky to live so close to this wonderful part of nature.  Not everyone gets to experience this once let alone live right next to it.  I hope that C will learn a great deal from the opportunity that he has living in such close proximity to all of these wonderful animals.
