some images from a trip to Ohio.

we just got back from thanksgiving in Ohio.  although we were very busy and hardly had any time to breath, we had a great time.  we did farm chores everyday, rode horses, checked out fancy cars, ate everything we could, visited with family and friends, cooked great food, went hiking, and tried to relax.   and, to top it all off went from 60 degree weather to a snow storm the next day.  pretty exciting if you ask me.

we are home for a few days to gather up our gift for the holidays, and then we are off again to the south this time.  this will be the first christmas in TN in quite a while.  hope it's not too cold.

till next time.

Busy, but I'm clinging to normalcy.

Life seems to be moving at a pretty fast pace lately, and I am doing everything I can to find little moments of peace and quiet. A little cup of tea or hot chocolate with a few minutes here and there reading or looking at my favorite blogs on the internet.  These moments are what keeps me going, and allow me to keep going with all the things on my plate right now.

We are getting ready to travel to Los Angeles for a very huge job, and the task at hand seems a bit daunting.  However, I look forward to the day that this will all pay off, and we have a few more moments of togetherness and fun.  Till then, I will reminisce on the simpler days in hopes they are soon to come.

California State Parks.

This video is so good, it made me cry.  I hope that we can do something about the California State Parks.  It would be so sad to see them go away.

from my photogenic city. {aka. san francisco}

it's been a while since i have posted anything, and photographs have been building up.  things have been really busy around here lately.  we have started up our own business and it seems to take every single minute away from you.

these are all pictures that i have taken from san francisco.  i love this city and there is always an endless amount of opportunities to take pictures.  it is truly one on the most photogenic cities i have ever been too.

 a rare opportunity to look down onto the pyramid.

a nice view of coit tower.

looking down on the ferry building and the bay bridge.

how about a trip back to the early 1900's? {i.e. angel island}

a couple of weeks ago we took the ferry over to angel island for a day of hiking.  it is fascinating to see a place so underdeveloped so close to such a populated area.  I felt like we had somehow slipped back in time to see what it was like 100 years ago.

the boat docks in the harbor on the north side of the island, and then you must hike up and around the island to see the views of the city.  everywhere we went was the most spectacular views.

this is a day trip worth taking, and you can even get a permit to camp overnight as well.  it would be so much fun to go to sleep under the stars across the bay from the bright lights of the city, and yet be one of the only souls on the island.

a few oldies.

i was going to post something new, but while looking through pictures, I founds these old shots i took on film.  i used to take most of my pictures on film, but the convenience of the dark room have gone away since i left college.  my goal is to get back to taking more film shots and get a darkroom set up sometime very soon.  i really miss it.

it's a good day for a hike

took the boy hiking today.  we stopped at the beach, but it was so windy that we could open our eyes for fear of sand blowing into them.  so, we quickly packed up and found a great place to hike up the road and safe from the howling winds.

we ended up a Buckleigh Murray Recreational Area where we found the only bank barn standing in the state of California.  the barn itself is over 165 feet long and was built in 1889.  the hay was loaded up the hill into the second story of the barn and then lowered down to where the animals were housed.

it was amazing to see something that had been here for so long.  there is not much in California that still stands due to all the earthquakes and people wanting to develop new and better things.  i felt happy to be able to experience that with C. and have him see something that has been preserved for no other reason than the historical and educational value that a building can bring.

my sister's wedding {a beautiful desert ceremony}

a few weeks ago we drove down to san diego for my sister's wedding.  it was one of the most beautiful settings and the ceremony was so wonderful and moving.  everything was so simple and yet i know that so much work went into every little detail.  they did most everything themselves including making all the food.  her new husband is a four star chef from sicily and we were not disappointed.  i was inspired by their commitment to each other and putting together such a beautiful and emotional gathering.  i had so much fun and will remember it always.  here's to the happy couple, and i hope they have a lifetime of happiness, travel, adventure, and good food.
